Homemade cake beverage is that the good Christmas drink. This cake spice infused beverage warms you up & gets you into the festal mood.
With the vacation season approaching I tend to crave two things the foremost. First could be a cup of beverage and second is cake seasoned goodies.
This time I decided to combine these two to create this gingerbread hot chocolate. And guys, this is the real treat.
Each cup of this cake beverage can bring you a step nearer thereto witching time of the year. And that we all love the witching season, right?
Ingredients :
- 2 cups Water (500ml)
- 1½ Cinnamon Sticks
- 4 Whole Allspice Berries
- 6 Whole Cloves
- 5 tbsp Brown Sugar
- Fresh Ginger (1.5inch/4cm long)
- 1 cup Whipping Cream (250ml)
- 2 tbsp Powdered Sugar
- 2 cups Milk (500ml)
- 4 tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
Optional :
- Gingerbread Syrup , optional to your taste
- 1 tsp Gingerbread Spice Mix , optional – for sprinkling
- 1 tbsp Superfine Sugar
Instructions :
- In a medium sauce pan combine water, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, sugar and slices fresh ginger (skin removed). Bring this to a boil and reduce the heat. Simmer for 7-10 minutes or until the syrup is infused with the spices.
- Meanwhile: Whip the cream with sugar and set aside for later.
- Taste the syrup and if you are happy with the taste, add milk and cocoa powder. Whisk until well combined. Bring to a boil and cook for about a minute. Turn off and remove the spices (either with a spoon or strain the drink through a cheese cloth).
- Pour into mugs and serve topped with whipped cream, gingerbread sugar (mix gingerbread spice with superfine sugar) and/or gingerbread syrup.
